Itinerary for a Two-day Tour to Chernobyl

A two-day tour itinerary for a trip to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and Pripyat with the private guide Mykhailo Teslenko

As an official guide to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone I am offering several types of tours for individual visitors and small groups. Working in the Chernobyl Zone for many years I’ve developed elaborated programs of visits, trying to include most interesting, iconic places as well as some not well-known, but fascinating and picturesque locations.

Here is an example of a two-day private tour to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and Pripyat. Although, please remember, that the program may be modified according to your wishes.

  • 7:30 a.m. – Meeting time and passport check near your accommodation place in Kyiv;
  • 7:45 a.m. – We leave for the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone;
  • 8:15 a.m. – Coffee stop at a gas station;
  • 10:00–10:15 a.m. – Arriving at the “Dytiatky” checkpoint – 30 km gate to the Exclusion Zone (passport check by police and entry).

Itenerary for a first day of a two-day tour to the Chernobyl Zone

On our first day we explore:

  • Abandoned Zalissya village;
  • Welcoming road sign and main square of Chernobyl town;
  • “Wormwood star” memorial;
  • Lenin statue;
  • Chernobyl shipyard;
  • Monument to firefighters;
  • Exhibition of remotely operated machines, used for clean-up project;
  • Rests of the buried village Kopachi;
  • Abandoned kindergarten;
  • Panorama look at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant;
  • Observation site of the New Sarcophagus (New Safe Confinement).

  • Lunch time in the canteen of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m.

After lunch we continue with:

  • Stone road sign “Pripyat”;
  • Lenin Avenue;
  • The main square of Pripyat ghost town;
  • Supermarket;
  • Cultural centre;
  • Hotel;
  • Amusement park;
  • Athletic stadium;
  • School # 3 with gasmasks;
  • Swimming pool.

Itenerary for a second day of a two-day tour to the Chernobyl Zone

On the second day we visit:

  • Duga 1 (so-called “Russian Woodpecker”, military over the horizon radar and it`s base called “Chernobyl 2”);
  • Unfinished cooling towers of reactors 5 and 6.

  • Lunch time in the canteen of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m.

After lunch we continue with:

  • Red Forest;
  • Hospital;
  • Pripyat passenger river port;
  • Cinema “Prometheus”;
  • Music school;
  • Contaminated ladle;
  • Bus station.

  • In the evening we head back for Kyiv.

2-day tour includes: transportation (Kyiv ⇒ Chernobyl Exclusion Zone ⇒ Kyiv), meals (lunch and dinner on the first day, breakfast and lunch on the second day), guiding, accommodation in one of Chernobyl town’s hotels (hotel choice depends on the availability of rooms) and friendly company.

Pay your attention, please, that your accommodation in Kyiv is not included in the cost. You need to book your accommodation place in Kyiv by yourself.
